Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20180525-2A4B0-2147387734. Matched catalog product: Nest Topaz-2.7. Source model text: Nest Protect - Topaz-2.7. Incident: We have (2) Nest Protect products, one upstairs and one downstairs that are smoke and co2 alarms. Both were purchase at different times and one is 3 months old. Our stovetop is a glass stovetop with touch controls. The cat stood on it and turn on a burned to high that had a silicone hot plate on it and a bread knife with a wooden handle. My wife and I were outside when the cat did this. We came in the house and it was filled with smoke throughout. Neither of the 2 Nest Protects detected smoke nor were alarming. If we hadn't come in when we did, the whole house could have burned down.
