Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20180806-8541C-2147386362. Severity: Injury, No First Aid or Medical Attention Received. Matched catalog product: GE PDW9280J10SS. Source model text: model#PDW9280J10SS. Incident: My husband and I smelled something burning - it smelled electrical or like plastic was melting on a heating coil. The smell was getting worse and we were alarmed because we could not immediately locate its source. The smell was the most intense in the kitchen and we realized it had to be the dishwasher that was running. We turned off the dishwasher, opened the door, turned off the power to the dishwasher at the fuse box, and my husband unscrewed the dishwasher door panel. We were shocked that the black metal housing of the motherboard was melting! We are very relieved we were not sleeping at the time and that our house did not burn down!
