Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20180813-3B4D8-2147386183. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: GE wbvh6240fww (White GE front loading washer). Incident: Started front load GE washer with towels and underwear. Went into the house and later heard a Big Bang from the garage. Ran to the garage and saw the washer about 10 inches away from where it sits on its pedestal. The door was wide open hanging at an angle. The soap drawer was all the way out. The metal panel on the back Was pushed out. After taking laundry out the stainless steel drum was all bent and distorted, plastic shavings in the drum as well. After back of washer taken off three of the four support were broken. Not really sure what happened . We have always had a service contract on it nd was serviced regularly. We have had always had vibration problems and were given numerous explanations for it. Wrong soap, soap buildup on the tub made it vibrate . Some said it only ran correctly if totally full. I know all about the machine being off balance and what to do. But this never was corrected. So I guess it vibrated itself to exploding. What might have happened if I had been in front of the washer I dont know. There was no damage to the matching dryer right next to it or wall. GE model wbvh6240fww
