Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20180919-FB5D8-2147385475. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Kenmore 665.13543N412. Incident: I put in a load of dishes and turned my dishwasher on. After a while, I smelled fumes. Upon entering my kitchen, I realized the fumes were coming from the dishwasher. I shut it off and opened it. And noticed that the heating ring located at the base of the dishwasher had melted away the plastic connecting pieces that held the ring in place. The whole house smelled horrible and I was horrified at the thought that this could have started a fire. I have not turned it on since because I fear what will happen. I literally fear for my life, that it'll burn my house down.
