Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20181008-141E9-2147385139. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Kenmore Kenmore 796. 91383410. Source model text: 796.411.62.411. Incident: My front load clothes washing machine continues to have the smell of mold and mildew after washing clothes. I have tried bleach, does not work; Clorox wipes on the inside seal, does not work; dryer sheets, does not work; removing the seal and cleaning it, does not work; and finally replacing detergent with different brands, does not work. I purchased the product based on the knowledge that it was the most effective resource for the loads of laundry I do every week with a family of 5. However it has been nothing short of a nightmare. Our youngest children have allergies that we continue to battle and we believe the washing machine is the source of problems. It is not reasonable to expect a consumer product to be broken down and cleaned after each use to keep it safe from contamination. Even with an extended warranty it is not enough to keep the product safe.
