Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20181229-136F5-2147383506. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Whirlpool WEG 750H0HZ0 (Whirlpool MODEL WEG750H0HZ0 SERIAL R81811625 SLIDE IN). Incident: After my 3rd [REDACTED] gas stove was returned, I did some research and decided to go with a Whirlpool model WEG750H0HZ0 serial R81811625 based on the slide in photo/reviews I read. PC Richards delivered the stove some time mid-February 2018. Here are the problems that I consider a safety issue: 1. Even though you need to "push in SLIGHTLY" to turn the gas jets on, IT IS NOT SAFE ENOUGH! A guest came into my home at 1:30am, went directly into the kitchen to put away or get something from the refrigerator. His duffle bag he was carrying, must have somehow pushed in SLIGHTLY & TURNED 2 knobs as he was walking into the kitchen. NOT enough to hear the click, click ignitor, but enough to let gas escape. My bedroom is 15 feet from the kitchen. My door was ajar only 4". I woke up at 5am to the 'SMELL OF GAS' in my bedroom. I was terrified to go out of my bedroom door because I had a motion light in my hallway, (thinking when the light came on it would cause an explosion). I took the chance and the smell of gas was heavier as I stood up, in the hall, livingroom, kitchen and bathroom. I opened all of the doors, windows and after most was out of the house turned on the ceiling fans. The knobs on ALL gas stoves with ALL manufacturers NEED to be PUSHED IN (just like trying to open a child proof medicine bottle) in order that this does not happen to others. In addition the engineer who designed the grates for this stove should be FIRED. Using a compass, E.W.N.S. the bars that go from E to W are full or at least 3/4 full. Over the gas jet, there is a N.S. SHORT BAR ONLY 3" in long. This
