SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20190208-0B3C4-2147382806. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: RHEEM Model: XE50T12EC55U0 Serial: RH A161406493 Gallons: 80 (Not sure why WATER HEATERS are not listed. But here is my description: February 8, 2019. 8:05 PM ET. RHEEM hot water heater was not operating due to no electricity. On the top of the unit, I noticed a black burn mark that appears to have come from inside the unit exactly where the electricity line goes into the top of the unit. Obviously burning or high enough heat caused a blackened burn mark. I was not notified of a +++RECALL++++, which I have now discovered took place, and I am highly concerned that the unit could have caused a fire in my home. I want it fixed and certified or replaced. Obviously the urgency exists for hot water, so I'd like Service immediately. .cc.
