Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20190211-17E0A-2147382782. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Sensi Touch ST75 Sensi Touch ST75 (Sensi Touch Wi-Fi Thermostat Model ST75 wall mounted thermostat with remote control and monitoring phone App. Made by Emerson Electric.). Incident: Purchased a Sensi Touch Wi-Fi Thermostat Model ST75 by Emerson at Home Depot. The unit installed properly and initially worked as planned. I set it at 70 degrees heating with NO schedule. Within 2 hours the set point of the thermostat went from 70 to 74 degrees while unattended. I returned the temperature to 70 at the unit. I went to work and checked the unit on my phone app and my house displayed 85 degrees with a set point of 85 degrees. I returned the set point to 70 degrees on the App. Upon returning home the set point was 75 degrees. I called the manufacturer's support line and waited for 40 minutes on hold. When the representative finally spoke to me he seemed to know less about the unit than I did. He indicated that he would pass the report to engineering. The set point continued to creep up all night randomly. The following day I left the house for 6 hours and returned to a hours that was 94 degrees. Another call to the support only resulted in "I'll take a report of it". I noticed that this unit is NOT listed or tested bu UL or any other agency. I am a HVAC contractor and I feel that this company and product should NOT be on the market considering the lack of concern to a defect that could result in a fire. The product is registered with the manufacturer and they have not contacted me in over 5 days.
