Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20190313-8844B-2147382217. Severity: Injury, First Aid Received by Non-Medical Professional. Product: LVSUN USB Type-C Laptop Charger, Premium 5-Port 80W USB-C Charger (USB Type-C Laptop Charger, Premium 5-Port 80W USB-C Charger for Apple MacBook Nexus 6P 5X, Plus 4 QC3.0 USB Ports Convert 5-20V Power for HP Asus Toshiba Lenovo Acer Sony Samsung Galaxy S7 iPhone iPad (exact wording from amazon listing)). Incident: On 1/7/19 a multi-charger, cord, and adapter tip I purchased on Amazon.com from LVSUN caught fire while plugged into my laptop. The fire burned my laptop, burned my arm (I now have a scar as well) and had I not been home (it was plugged in and sitting on my couch) could have burned my house down. I was lucky to be sitting right next to the product when it caught fire. I reported it to the manufacturer as well as amazon. I took photographs as well. Then, a second charger, identical to the first, melted within two days of the first. This unit was in my bedroom and caught my mattress protector on fire. (The cable that was attached to it was sitting next to my bed and melted onto the plastic protector) Again, I contacted amazon and the seller/manufacturer. I was refunded but the products are still listed for sale. The company claims in their listings to be UL certified amongst other certifications. I believe this to be false. The company, upon seeing that I left negative feedback for them, offered me $200 as compensation for my damages (my computer cost over $1000 and was destroyed) IF I would agree to remove the negative feedback. I did not accept and they had my feedback removed. I added more feedback and to this date, it is still up- as well as others that have claimed fires, shorts, and melting. The products are dangerous- that I'm convinced of. What are the odds it would happen not once, but twice with two different items in the same household?
