Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20190326-AEB7E-2147381988. Severity: Injury, Level of care not known. Product: LG LRG4111ST (LG LRG4111ST (LG gas range)). Incident: Despite the "Loc" feature being turned on at all times when our gas range is not in use, the burner knobs turn on unintentionally at the slightest bump. On many occasions this has happened, and thankfully we have to this point realized when the gas was coming from the burner on most occasions fairly quickly. However, one occasion we did not realize for quite some time and all ended up with severe headaches. This is a HUGE safety concern. If we do not catch the gas turning on like this, we could go to bed and our house fill with gas. This is totally not acceptable! I have reached out to LG regarding this safety concern, and was told that unless we received physical injuries or property damage, there was nothing they could do. LG knows there is a problem; I have researched this particular model of range and found that hundreds of others have had similar experiences as we have had, and others have ended up having fires as a result of this faulty model of LG gas range. As a parent, I cannot sleep soundly at night knowing that this range is so dangerous. I find myself constantly checking the range & knobs just to make sure that gas isn't coming out of the burners. Again, this is happening while the so-called "Loc" feature is on.... also would like to note that with the "Loc" feature on, barely turning the knobs counterclockwise causes gas to come from the burners as well (this occurs without even pushing the knob in... you are supposed to have to push the knob in and then turn clockwise to get the gas to turn on when the the Loc feature is OFF... gas should not be coming out per
