Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20190517-B5157-1874086. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Weber Spirit E210, (2-burner BBQ Grill). Incident: On July 1, 2018, I bought a Weber Spirit E210, 2-burner BBQ at Ace Hardware in Jackson, Wyoming. For a variety of reasons, including the fact I have a larger, [REDACTED]grill, I did not used it very often. However, whenever I did use it to BBQ a whole chicken, grease seeped everywhere, and as the grease ran down its sides, it dripped onto, and burned, my deck. (I am enclosing 4 photographs .) Last summer, I was preoccupied with other matters, stopped using the grill, and did not contact Weber or the CPSC. As we got prepared for this summer season, we thoroughly cleaned the grill. But when I BBQed another whole chicken, I had the same result - grease went everywhere . So, we cleaned it again, this time getting it as clean as it was when it was "brand-spanking new." Then I grilled another whole chicken, and again, lots of grease ran down its sides, and dripped onto my deck. Accordingly, I called Weber's customer service line. The representative asked for photographs; I sent the ones attached hereto, and after he looked at them, he called and said, "when you BBQ fatty things, that will happen; it is normal and to be expected." I responded: First, there wasn't much fat on any of those chickens, as I always remove the fat before BBQing. WAY MORE IMPORTANT : Weber should not manufacture a BBQ that gushes grease when someone grills a chicken - I suspect, one of the most commonly grilled items . Because I was taken aback at his response; I asked to speak to his supervisor and was transferred to her. She essentially said the same thing he had. When I asked to speak to her supervisor
