Incident narrative
SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20191022-DB4E7-2147377011. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Electrolux EFME627UIW (Electrolux Dryer Model EFME627UIW). Incident: RE: Electrolux dryer Model EFME627UIW We purchased an Electrolux washer/dryer set from Grand Appliance Store in Madison, WI. Our salesperson said that Electrolux had re-designed the lint screen to catch more. Our dryer set was delivered around March 22, 2019. With only the second load of laundry, the lint screen came out during the cycle. Approximately seven socks went down the vent area and one was caught. We could not remove it and called Electrolux. They said the lint screen coming out was "user error" and were going to charge us for the service visit. They did agree to send someone out at no charge and the sock was removed. The vent continued to come out or get caught on clothing. We were extremely concerned about a fire risk, but Electrolux would not stand behind their product. Grand Appliance was concerned and replaced the dryer with the same model. The same thing happened again!!!! We had the repair company come out and Electrolux did tell the repairman that they were aware of ten other instances of this happening, but would not authorize return. Unfortunately, Grand would not let us return the dryer. We called again and had more service appointments. Electrolux did not want us to submit our videos - they would only accept them from a repair service, which was a waste of time and resources. Finally, after months of emails with Electrolux stating our concern about a fire hazard, they acknowledged that the model did have concerns and said they didn't need to look at the videos we have because it is happening so often. I do have videos from both dryers if you would like
