Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20191216-75F7F-2147376000. Severity: Injury, No First Aid or Medical Attention Received. Matched catalog product: Kenmore 795.77563600. Incident: Upon opening the refrigerator I realized that the light bulbs were both off. When I went to remove the plastic cover I noticed that it was very warm to the touch, but was able to remove it. I reached to remove the bulbs in order to inspect them and my hand grazed the metal backing plate of the assembly and was subsequently burned. The only way to ensure that the assembly does not produce an excessive amount of heat is to remove the bulbs and interrupt the circuit. The overheating was severe enough to discolor the white, plastic bulb sockets. Kenmore model 795.77563600. After a series of phone calls and transfers to everyone from Sears, to Kenmore, to LG, to third parties, I got nowhere and no one would accept liability or send me replacement parts.
