Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20191221-5F997-2147375898. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Samsung EP-TA50JWE (Samsung USB Travel Adapter Model: EP-TA50JWE 5.0V 1.55A). Incident: I have two Samsung USB 1.55 Amp chargers that are used to charge two separate Samsung cell phones. Both the chargers came with the Samsung phones. I have had them for approximately 1 to 2 years. Yesterday (12/20/19) I discovered that both chargers have yellowing discoloration and part of the exterior plastic coating of the charger has melted off. I am not sure exactly when the yellowing and melting started, probably in the last 30 days. They have both been only used in our house which was built in 2013. I Feel this could be a fire danger if they are left unchecked in power outlets. The description on the adapters says, Samsung Travel Adapter, Model: EP-TA50JWE. Serial number for the first travel adapter: DK5k615VS/A-E Serial number for the second adapter: DW2J901CS/A-E. I contacted Samsung today (12/21/19) at 1-800-726-7864, who said they would document it.
