Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20200109-F46E5-2147375499. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Oster TSSTTV815 (Toaster Oven Model TSSTTVF815 PN:160493 Prong #H014 and GAZ Manufacture Oster). Incident: Oster Toaster Oven Model TSSTTVF815 PN:160493 Prong Numbers H014 and GAZ developed a defective timer. This is critical because after using the toaster oven the timer turns off as it should but then immediately goes beyond off and TURNS ITSELF BACK ON in the keep warm position which is actually the temperature at which you were cooking. If the consumer does not immediately remove the cooked item it will continue cooking and burn possibly starting a kitchen fire. If the consumer turns it off again it will begin ticking and turn itself back on. The only way to turn it off is to unplug the toaster over. The timer keeps going even with out electricity . I did report this to Oster and because it was beyond warranty they referred me to a service centers in Wisconsin and Indiana both of who said that it could not be repaired. No one seemed concerned that it was a fire hazard. I know that their have been other complaints because I saw them on line. I suggested that it should have been recalled but got no comment.
