Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20200111-90B04-2147375472. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Samsung Samsung 65' S-Series Ultra HD Smart Tv (Samsung 65 inch TV Model # un65js8500 Samsung 65' S-Series Ultra HD Smart Tv). Incident: I own a Samsung TV model # un65js8500 purchase 4 years ago. Recently, we noticed distortion and light bleed around the edges of the screen. These areas also were extremely hot to the touch. I did an online search and found many incidents of this problem. [REDACTED] I contacted Samsung, sent them photos of my set and they were unwilling to give any relief. My concern is that the extreme heating that is occuring could pose a fire hazard. Some of the complaints indicated the frame melting and people smelling the heat. I have not been able to measure the temperature of my set, but it is enough that I am unable to touch the set for more than a second without danger of injuring my fingers. It appears that Samsung is stone walling that there are issues with this model and are ignoring the potential safety issues.
