Incident narrative
SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20200126-1AF9E-2147375207. Severity: Injury, No First Aid or Medical Attention Received. Product: 1More Triple Driver Headphones, Gold (1MORE Triple Driver In-Ear Earphones Hi-Res Headphones with High Resolution, Bass Driven Sound, MEMS Mic, In-Line Remote, High Fidelity for Smartphones/PC/Tablet (current description on Amazon.com as of 01/26/20) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01A7G35S0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1). Incident: On 04/18/2019, I purchased a pair of 1More triple driver in-ear earphones through Amazon.com. The earphones worked properly until August 2019, when the right side began sending shocks into my ear canal. It was extremely painful, and I immediately stopped using the earphones. I contacted Amazon, but they told me to contact the manufacturer. (The product supposedly has a 1-year warranty period.) I initially contacted the manufacturer, 1MoreUSA, on 08/30/2019. I returned the defective earphones and received another set from the manufacturer. These earphones worked normally until January 2020, when the right side seemed to be making my ear sore. I thought perhaps I was developing a respiratory virus-related earache, although it briefly occurred to me that perhaps these earphones were failing in the same way as the first ones. On 01/25/2020, I had plugged the earphones into my computer's headphone jack, and as I caught hold of the earphones to insert them into my ears, the right side earphone was so hot to the touch that I had to let go of it. I don't use my earphones in an extreme way (I never use them outdoors, and I only use them while sitting still, not during exercise), and the problems occurred when the earphones were plugged into various devices (eg, computer, cellphone), indicating the problem rests with the earphones. I'm very concerned that this product may cause serious injury or death. I did not contact the company again because I didn't want to expose myself to injury aga
