Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20200214-E63C5-2147374829. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Uppababy 2017 Uppababy Cruz. Model Number 0417-CRZ-US (UPPAbaby 2017 CRUZ Stroller - Pascal (Grey/Carbon)). Incident: Without warning, WHILE MY SON WAS IN THE STROLLER, the metal frame of an Uppababy CRUZ stroller at a little over 2 years old, just snapped. THE WELD of the joint frame FAILED. It destabilized the entire stroller and caused me to stumble and the stroller to roll towards the road/down a curb. Fortunately I managed to keep my son upright and unharmed. Initially I thought this was just a defective stroller but have since found there are MULTIPLE instances of the EXACT SAME WELD BREAK, therefore making it a known issue (which Uppababy deny - however, considering that the majority of online complaints expressly state that they contacted Uppababy how could Uppababy not know of this issue?). What caused the weld to break was either poor design/a mistake in the welding process (overheating) or metal fatigue. This weld failed due to a manufacturing defect. Even though it is is 3 months over its two year warranty, the company have offered a replacement frame as a 'courtesy.' I don't want a replacement frame as a 'courtesy.' This is a serious defect which has happened to numerous other people. I am not going to put my child in danger due to poorly manufactured materials from a co
