Incident narrative
SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20200218-D78FD-2147374775. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Bluestar Appliance RCS30SBV2NG (Gas range stainless steel Model: RCS30SBV2NG Serial: 1837019). Incident: We bought a Bluestar Appliance RCS30SBV2NG in October 2018. This same model had a recall in Canada in September 2018: https://www.bluestarcooking.com/safety-recall-notice/ By September 2019, our unit had developed multiple gas leaks. It took Bluestar over a month to get service people out after we first requested a warranty repair in October 2019. Despite multiple repair attempts by BS, the gas leaks persisted, and Bluestar was often slow to provide the missing parts. Then in January 2020, the stove had an internal fire on a gas shutoff valve in the control panel, terrifying my wife and two kids, and rendering the stove unsafe to use. I had to completely disconnect the stoves gas and electric to stop the fire. Bluestar then offered to replace the stove, to their credit. But now, one month after the control panel fire, were still waiting for a replacement, still without a stove, cooking for a family of four on a hot plate in the middle of winter. And Bluestar is giving us the runaround and failing to return calls and emails.
