Incident narrative
SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20200305-B5D37-2147374487. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Frigidare LGEF3045KFE (Electric Frigidare Stainless Steel Stove). Incident: My Frigidare Electric stove was purchased in 2012. I was slow baking pork ribs at 250 (usually I go to work & let it slow cook all day) however, I was still home with I heard sparks going off at the control panel, then a flame came shooting out from behind my stove. The stove began to start beeping loudly and It said F10 on my control panel. Which I found out later this means the temperature was at a dangerous level. I was about to call the fire department, then decided to unplug the stove, which I did. This could have been an entire house fire had I not been home. I reported it to Frigidare --they were not very concerned. They said since my stove is 8 years old I have no warranty. I explained to them that this is a safety hazard and they should warn people that the oven can catch fire for no apparent reason. I received an answer that the owners manuel does say it can catch fire. I have never read this in the manual--but I will never buy Frigidare again.
