SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20200312-550E4-2147374396. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: fridiaire FFRH18L2R21 (White A/C unit). Incident: Make Frigidaire Model FFRH18L2R2 Serive Model No. FFRH18L2R21 to Start I bought this unit about 2 years ago at Lowe's and brought it home and installed it everything worked fine until I walked into the house today on 3/21/2020. I walked inside of the house and looking around I had the smell of burning wiring in my house I looked around trying to find where it was coming from. I turned off the A/C unit and and it normally takes a mins to shut off. I waited and it was not turning off and the smell was getting stronger. I unplugged the A/C unit and took took off the front cover of the A/C unit and found that there was smoke coming off the top of the unit. I unscrewed the top panel of the A/C unit and found that the controller board on the top of the unit is blacken and chard and still smoking I unplugged the unit and called Frigidaire and explained what happened with the unit that they have they told me that only the HVAC system is only covered and that non of the electrical side of the A/C unit was not covered. I explained that there was something wrong with the unit and they kept stating that it is not under warrenty and what could had started a fire inside of my house and or caused major damage to the house hold putting life at risk of being in harms way. There is a Braker switch at the plug that did not turn off while there is a problem the unit.
