Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20200422-56FD6-2147372767. Severity: Injury, No First Aid or Medical Attention Received. Product: FitBit fb409 (Fitbit Watch/Tracker Model fb409 It's a fitbit wristwatch that tracks sleep and exercise, heart rate, and pulse.). Incident: While sleeping on my side with my hand under my head, the fitbit pressed into my wrist. I woke up with a burn mark where the battery port contacted my skin. The muscles surrounding the burn mark feel bruised and sore, even after a full week. I bought the fitbit on Sunday and it burned me on Tuesday of last week. After checking other complaints online, I found that it was better to put it on the inside of my wrist, so I did. I had put a small piece of tape over the battery port, which worked fine, but yesterday I charged it, and forgot to put tape on it. This morning, while working at the computer, my wrist was pressing against a keyboard pad, and I felt a jolt. I took the fitbit off and found a small welt where the battery port was. It didn't burn in that spot, but the muscles around the welt are extremely sore.
