Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20200429-C3F7D-1975960. Severity: Injury, Seen by Medical Professional. Product: Homedics HHP-375H (Massager). Incident: The consumer indicates that when she was about to turn her massager on, it exploded and sparked on her stomach, leaving her a stomach burn slightly larger than a coin quarter. The consumer also received an electrical shock right before the explosion; the unit switched off the circuit breaker as well. The consumer unplugged the unit immediately after. The consumer contacted the Manufacturer via e-mail explaining the situation and is awaiting a response. The consumer states the product was used two to three times monthly for about two to five minutes each use. The consumer states that the massager works only when it is plugged into a wall however she unplugs it after every use. The consumer plans on keeping the massager for at least the next thirty days in case an investigation ensues. I did end up seeking medical attention from my doctor on April 30, 2020. Also, after the shock I received, when I looked at my stomach it was completely black in the location of my burn.
