SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20200517-98ABD-2147372305. Severity: Injury, No First Aid or Medical Attention Received. Product: huxspoo Amazon ASIN B07ZNWTMZZ (huxspoo Wireless Bluetooth Karaoke Microphone Rechargeable Kids Micrphone Karaoke Machine). Incident: We purchased the huxspoo Wireless Bluetooth Kids Karaoke Microphone from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Bluetooth-Microphone-Rechargeable-Professional/dp/B07ZNWTMZZ) in April and gave it as a gift today. Prior to initial use, we connected it to a matching Micro USB charger plugged into a standard US household outlet. Since the incident described below, I verified our charger's output range includes the charging voltage indicated by the toy's specifications. The device did not appear take a charge and was unplugged by our 8-year-old after approximately one hour connected to the charger. Several minutes later, I picked up the unplugged microphone by the handle (where the Li ion battery is apparently held). The handle was extremely hot, at a temperature I would estimate in excess of 140 degrees F. I had lingering mild pain on my hand from the contact for approximately one hour, but did not require medical attention. We filed a return for a defective product with Amazon and are returning it to the seller.
