Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20200526-97143-2147372102. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Frigidaire FDM70S1 (Frigidaire 70 pint dehumidifier). Incident: My Frigidaire dehumidifier (model FDM70S1, SN KN90822777) became extremely hot (the cabinet was too hot to touch with pulling hand back).I turned the unit off to let it cool down and defrost (although it didn't appear to need defrosting). I turned the unit on a day later and it quickly became dangerously hot again. I was aware that many dehumidifiers manufactured by [REDACTED] were under recall, although not this particular model. I contacted the recall hotline to let them know that this unit was exhibiting the same dangerous behavior and that they should investigate adding it to the recall list. To this date, I have not heard back from them and they still do not list this model as one affected by the recall, although it seemed to operate in the same hazardous state posing a real fire risk.
