Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20200604-045E3-2147371912. Severity: Injury, First Aid Received by Non-Medical Professional. Matched catalog product: Samsung Model Number- RF18HFENBSR US. Source model text: RF30HDEDTSR/AA. Incident: My Samsung refrigerator model RF30HDEDTSR/AA stopped cooling for the third time since purchase. The temperature display on the front ALWAYS reads 34 degrees regardless of what the actual temperature is. After my husband and kids complained on milk tasting "funny" and everyone in the house frequently dealing with stomach trouble and diarrhea I bought an internal thermometer and found that the temperature was over 46 degrees! And who knows for how long! This refrigerator has a known design defect that causes the condenser coils to freeze and stop cooling the unit. I have had that part replaced or repaired three times. The loss of food and spoilage each time that this happens is one thing but it is NOT SAFE to have a defective product that ALSO provides inaccurate temperature readings on the front of the unit. Please take action against Samsung as there are years of service bulletins showing that they are well aware of the issues that make this product UNSAFE.
