Incident narrative
SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20201008-9D23A-2147369350. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: LG LCE3610SB. Incident: We bought an LG cooktop from Best Buy on 9/5/2020 and we found the glass top of the cooktop is broken on 10/5/2020 only after one month of regulator use. We call the LG customer service for several time and they just did not give us any effective answer and sending us back and forth to Best Buy or LG. That has wasted a lot of our time and we are still going in circle. We did not punch or drop something on the glass top but LG insisted that is the reason why the glass top is broken even though in the email they used it seems to be.. to describe the issue. For common sense, the glass top of a cooktop should be designed to be able to endure sudden temperature change because water or oil splashing is inevitable in daily cooking. If the glass cannot handle something like this for even a month, this LG product is produced with flaw in design and should not be purchased by any customers. Instead, anyone purchased this product should get proper compensation and services to avoid trouble in further using this product. We do not have any other option since LG do not want to cover this product under the warranty.
