Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20201118-9F153-2147368057. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: LG K30 (LG K30 CELL PHONE SIMPLE MOBILE IS THE CARRIER. BLACK. PURCHASED 8/2020). Incident: my lg k30 phone stopped working it only had a ? on the screen and wouldnt charge. I took it to the mobile repair store and the man told me the question mark was because the battery was faulty. so i brought the phone home and put on the desk , the next night i was sitting at my desk and picked up the phone to put it in the cupboard when i picked it up i noticed it was really warm and then all of the sudden it started smoking and snapping so i dropped it on the floor, the smoke was heavy and then it started to catch on fire so i kicked the phone toward the front door and the fire was getting worse so finally i got it out the door where i let it burn itself out. un believable how the phone did this . it ruined my brand new flooring that was put in only 2 months ago the burn is in the middle of the floor so to repair i have to take the flooring all the way out . this is a expense that i should have to pay for since the faulty phone was not my fault I'm lucky that I was home and it didn't catch the entire home on fire. or that i didn't get burned from it.
