Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20201125-B0EF3-2147367896. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: GE The model # is -JGBS60DEK6WW.. Source model text: JTP86B0F588 or JTP86BF588. Incident: We had a GE microwave/oven wall unit in our home since 2005 and it never really operated correctly and needed many repairs over the years. Most recently my wife was cleaning the oven and the oven overheated and was smoking and almost caught fire. We were going to call the fire department but I shut off the electrical breaker. Then we contacted an appliance repair company and they came out to our house and stated that they would not touch the unit since they have seen many GE microwave/oven wall unit just like ours that catch fire and it is clearly a safety and fire hazard. GE will not reimburse us any for cost of the unit and it giving us a complete run-a-round. Please investigate. Thank you.
