Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20201206-20D48-2147367655. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Samsung RF22K9581SR (Samsung Family Hub 4-Door Flex French Door Counter-width, stainless steel refrigerator Model RF22K9581SR). Incident: I purchased a Samsung Family Hub 4-Door Flex French Door (counter-depth) refrigerator in stainless steel - Model # RF22K9581SR at the Home Depot on March 7, 2017, for a whopping $4,006.99. I chose this Samsung as we decided to remodel the kitchen and wanted a counter-depth refrigerator. This purchase was the worst decision I ever made as it has numerous defective design flaws that Samsung is well aware of since 2006. The ice maker consistently froze, which in turn made it difficult to pry the tray door open unless you force defrost it. We did that exercise for a while then gave up. The bottom of the ice maker drips water into the other compartments and out when you open the door. I was constantly cleaning the crisper drawers as a result of this dripping. The inside temperature fluctuates to unsafe levels and do not match the actual settings shown on the screen. How do I know this? Ive used a standalone thermometer to confirm this issue and confirmed safety temperatures with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. We have disposed of thousands of dollars in spoiled food over the years. The bottom two (French door) areas of the refrigerator, although set to freeze will not keep anything frozen (i.e., melted ice cream). The TV mirror feature rarely ever works as the refrigerator constantly freezes on connecting to internet mode. We have a private dedicated network. Everything else in the house connects to our service except for the refrigerator, on cue. The screen also randomly freezes up and wont respond when you press any of the options on the screen.
