Incident: The dishwasher was on for approximately 20 minutes, when it started emitting smoke from the front door area. The consumer opened the dishwasher door to stop it from working, which it did. However, there were flames inside of the door. So, he immediately tripped the breaker for the dishwasher. Upon further inspection, the consumer found that the control panel's wiring had caught fire and burned up. The panel melted completely, as well as some of the wiring inside the door. The home has a burned, smoke like odor. The consumer contacted the manufacturer, the same week of the incident. He spoke with a rep. in their Consumer Safety Department. The rep. said that they did not know anything about this and did not offer to look into the matter further. The consumer is extremely concerned, because this could have led to a substantial home fire. There were no injuries.
