Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20201229-4FB3C-2147367063. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Samsung RF28HMEDBSR. Incident: I purchased a Samsung french door refrigerator Model #RF28HMEDBSR in July 2016. I have had numerous issues with it, including issues with the ice maker not working and also with the interior temperature being too warm. The interior temperature of the fridge portion fluctuates between 41 and 44 degrees farenheit, despite the fridge being set on 37 degrees. Anything over 40 degrees is an unsafe temperature for food and can result in food spoilage and illness. This is a known defect with Samsung french door refrigerators and there are multiple service bulletins that have been published dating back to 2007 about this problem. There are also currently two class action lawsuits in process regarding these particular issues with Samsung fridges as well. Samsung still continues to sell french door refrigerators with these known defects. I now own a useless hunk of metal that cost me over $2,000.
