Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20210108-68843-2147366611. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: LG DLEX7600KE (LG Dryer DLEX7600KE Dark Grey. Purchased July 2017. Made in Korea. Only date I could find was stamped on a part 02/02/2017). Incident: I have owned an LG drier (DLEX7600KE) since July 2017. It has been well maintained and vacuumed deep down monthly as recommended. Last night I noticed smoke a few minutes after turning it on and discovered that there was fire in the dryer. We had to take apart the entire machine to find where the fire had originated. There was lint in the front right corner of the cabinet and around the heating element. These parts of the machine are completely inaccessible for an owner to maintain and there is no mention in the manual that the machine needs to be dismantled to clean heating coils. I believe this dryer was completely defective in some manner and could have caused a major fire. Thankfully I had not left the laundry room yet and caught it before it had spread to the house. I have photos of all the places of damage within the fire. I just wanted to let you know so you can have a record of the incident and issue a recall or look into the matter further. This could have been a major tragedy.
