Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20210111-1F134-2147366562. Severity: Injury, No First Aid or Medical Attention Received. Product: Frigidaire Model GCRI3058AFB (Purchased 10/14/2020 Frigidaire stove Model GCRI3058AFB). Incident: The convection roast feature on my Frigidaire stove Purchased 10/14/2020 Model GCRI3058AFB smokes up the house and splatters grease from the roast all over the inside of the oven. It burns my eyes and requires opening all the windows. The oven is not dirty except after using the convection roast. According to their call center technician the fan is too strong to be used safely. I fear it will cause a fire without having the fan adjusted to a safe level. The technician suggested I put aluminum foil around the roast to block the air flow (which defeats the convection feature) and the call center tech sent me information on how to jury rig the oven using 6 layers of foil and parchment paper underneath the roast. The oven is a fire hazard waiting to happen. It does not work safely when following the owner's manual directions or their own on-line video. I have tried using the convection roast 4 times all with the same results. People on the internet have reported similar problems. I have provided photographs documenting everything and NO ONE has told me I have done something wrong. The feature is being used so far cooking chicken in a pan that looks like the one on the Frigidaire [REDACTED] video and so far my injuries are limited to burning eyes and breathing. I fear trying to cook a turkey will result in a fire.
