Incident narrative
SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20210122-31C7B-2147366348. Severity: Injury, First Aid Received by Non-Medical Professional. Product: Samsung me21m706BAG (Samsung Over the Range Microwave n Black (model#me21m706BAG) https://www.samsung.com/us/home-appliances/microwaves/over-the-range/2-1-cu--ft--over-the-range-microwave-me21m706bag-aa/ Model me21m706BAG). Incident: I own the samsung over oven range microwave (model#me21m706BAG) and it started acting funny suddenly and constantly beeping and the display screen saying press start to continue or stop. All through the day and middle of the night. One day I put my cup of coffee in the microwave for 1.00 (1minute) and take a call in my office. I realize after that I forgot my coffee, but when I walked back I saw the microwave still running and counting down from 45 minutes! I have no idea what happened! The next day the beeping continues and the display says press start or stop to clear I decided to press start for the first time and it started counting down from 7 seconds. I realized that this was related to the coffee incident and that this microwave now has a say itself on the time settings- it set my 1 minute entry and added a 7 to it so it must have attempted to run for 71 minutes! When I go to Samsungs website to get help and google if this has happened to any other people I saw that this is such a common defect that all reviewers have in common. Samsung hasn't placed a recall on this, but it is legitimately dangerous and entirely not functioning how a microwave is intended to. The beeping is annoying, but the software glitch causing the microwave to input its own time setting. When a microwave gains some control over it's settings you know there is a serious glitch. Constantly attempting to start itself and causing modifications to the time the consumer enters actually scares me. It is not like the glitch is only related to the number 7 here, it's a glitch in the keypad or software t
