Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20210209-6788B-2147365975. Severity: No Incident, No Injury. Product: Frigidaire FPEW3085KFB (Frigidaire Single Wall Convection Oven, Model No. FPEW3085KFB, Serial No. NF04737264. MOdel FPEW3085KFB). Incident: On Thursday, February 4, 2021, I was using my Frigidaire Single Wall Convection Oven (Model No. FPEW3085KFB; Serial No. NF04737264) with the temperature set at 200 degrees convection setting. I originally purchased that product in 2011. I had it set at to 200 degrees to warm up some bread. After some time, I began to smell smoke and smoke began to fill our kitchen. When I opened the oven door to check inside, the temperature was super hot and there was smoke all over. I took out the pan on which I had placed the bread and threw it outside. We then tried to turn the oven off. Unfortunately, while the visible display for the oven seemed to indicate that the oven was off, it would not go off and after some time we became concerned about the risk of a fire. I then called an electrician who advised me on how to turn off the breaker at the fuse box that controlled the oven.
