Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20210218-B768F-2147365815. Severity: Injury, First Aid Received by Non-Medical Professional. Product: Duralex Picardie 12.5 oz (The product is Duralex glassware made in France. This is the Picardie 12.5 oz clear tumbler glass. Model Picardie 12.5 oz UPC 844819010511). Incident: Background I have used Duralex glassware for years. In 2019-2020 when I moved into a new house, I added some larger sized glasses. I purchased 12.5 oz and 17oz tumblers from Crate & Barrel. Fortunately, I got none of the larger pieces in my eyes, but I did get some of the glass dust in my eyes. I called my ophthalmologist. The office advised me to flush my eyes and apply artificial tears today and to call them back the next day if the irritation persists. The irrigation is persistent and my right eye and I will go in for a checkup. It feels like I have some sand in my right eye. I did a [REDACTED] search on "duralex exploding" and there is an [REDACTED] discussion of the topic as well as others sharing their experiences. I was shocked. I had no idea. I would not purchase a product that had the potential to explode upon touch. The product is said to be dishwasher safe, so there was no reason for it to explode as I unloaded the dishwasher. I called Duralex. They said they could send me some information on e
