Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20210423-A9CD3-2147364545. Severity: Injury, Emergency Department Treatment Received. Matched catalog product: Weber Weber Genesis E330 6531001. Source model text: Original Kettle Premium Charcoal Grill 22". Incident: Purchased Weber Original Kettle Premium Charcoal Grill 22" four years ago. The fasteners that connect the three legs to the kettle seemed flimsy, but I installed them per the directions. They did not hold up. My wife moved the grill on April 13, 2021 and the front leg collapsed because the fastener had deteriorated. The force of the kettle lid falling onto her hand (she was holding the handle) BROKE HER FINGER. I checked the remaining legs and the fasteners had also deteriorated, providing no solid support between the three legs and the kettle. POOR DESIGN AND AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN.
