Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20210621-18CA8-2147363390. Severity: Injury, Seen by Medical Professional. Product: Britax B-FREE STROLLER U741900 (Britax b free stoller in black. The car seat used is the britax endeavor.). Incident: While using a britax b free stroller with the endeavor carseat. The car seat became detached from the stroller when the release lever was not being pressed. This incident required medical attention for my child. The issue is the intermediate bracket that connects the car seat to the stroller. The stroller side of this bracket is not strong enough to keep the car seat attached. The product seems to be factory spec with no noticeable defects and the part did not crack when this incident happened. The issue can be replicated (without my child in the car seat of course) by simply pulling on the car seat and it pops right off the stroller. Pulling on the car seat is the easiest way to demonstrate the problem. However, it was a small shock from the front wheel hitting a step that causes the car seat to fall off during this incident. I suspect that any incident that causes the stroller to stop rapidly could also cause this issue such as jogging, going down steps, avoiding an object.
