Incident narrative
SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20210709-DFF65-2147363007. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Frigidaire fgmo3067uf (Frigidaire fgmo3067uf built-in microwave Model fgmo3067uf). Incident: Frigidaire microwave (model fgmo3067uf)--2 major issues. 1. When you put food in the oven and select the amount of time to cook, the countdown timer starts, however it indicates seconds remaining but each second on the oven can be several actual seconds. For example, if you set cook for 1 minute, on average it cooks for 2 and half minutes as the timer moves very slowly and not at a consistent speed. When you cook for longer times this is a major fire hazard, we have had 2 items catch on fire in the oven while cooking, supposedly for less than a minute, though the malfunctioning cook timer did not stop the oven and we only caught it when the kitchen filled with smoke. 2. In addition, the display occasionally flickers with the sound of an electric buzzing. The microwave is just over 1 year old with light use. I have contacted Electrolux many times but repeatedly have brushed off, with them stating this is just out of warranty. They finally agreed to send a tech out to look at an electrical issue, however he told me this was "just a poorly designed unit with many technical issues". Further stating that he "had seen many, many issues with this model". The company send me a door switch they think is bad, though it is hard to imagine how this affects cooking timer. Once I received the part and contacted them back to install it at their direction, they told me they have no service appointments available. Due to the internal burning, we can no longer use this unit. Had we cooked something that took several minutes more to cook and had left the room as most would, I can only imagine
