Incident: Dell Alienware 15 R4 laptop battery has swollen and damaged product beyond use. I use the laptop from 0-12 hours per day, and keep it in a protective case when not in use. Cleaned and well maintained. Initially computer began to get very hot (too hot to touch) and would cause the C-drive to report an error. The corner of the laptop began to life off the base of the computer and now half of the front corner is completely unattached after a running the laptop to try to diagnose the issue. When I dissassembled the computer to assess the issue, I discovered the Alienware 99 Wh Standard Type: 9NJM1 battery was completely swollen and was responsible for damaging the laptop where it no longer works. The swollen lithium ion battery is a safety hazard and when I looked online a lot of Dell Alienware users have reported the issue on [REDACTED], dell.com, [REDACTED], etc. meaning it's not just myself that has experienced this issue. Some examples are posted below for reference. Due to what appears to be a high incident I decided to report the issue. [REDACTED]
