Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20211229-2747E-2147358243. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: TCL 65S517LAAA (65" TCL Roku TV Serial No. 1804GTC002772A00178; Service NO 65S517LAAA). Incident: It was Sunday, December 26th, 2021. I was sitting with my husband and children watching a movie. All of sudden, we hear a loud pop and then the TV starts throwing sparks! We turned it off immediately and unplugged it. I called the company TCL. They said they would respond in 24 hrs. They didn't. I called back the next day at 3pm. They said they would definitely respond within 24 hrs. They didn't. I figured they'd never respond so we put the TV out with the trash on Tuesday evening. On Wednesday, they finally called back at 7pm ET. They said they wouldn't do anything because we put the TV out with the trash. Shouldn't they at least inspect a TV that started randomly throwing sparks after someone has owned it for three years? This doesn't seem right. How many other Roku TVs out there have this problem now and will start fires in someone else's home????
