Incident narrative
SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20211230-EC4D7-2147358236. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Frigidaire (By Electrolux) FFHS2622MSF (Frigidaire Refrigerator. Model number FFHS2622MSF Serial number 4A31805035 Side by side, black sides, stainless steel front. Ht. 69 7/8 Wideth 35 5/8 Depth 31 3/4). Incident: Hello, last night our Frigidaire fridge caught on fire in the back bottom where the motor is at. It was about 11 pm, my grandson and I were already in bed with the door closed and fan on, fortunately my son was home and upstairs where the fridge is located, (he lives downstairs in the basement apartment and is not usually upstairs) he heard crackling and smelled something burning. after investigating, he saw fire from the back of the fridge and unplugged it and thankfully no damage to the wall yet, but I shudder to think if he had not been here what could have happened. I would like a refund or a replacement. The 800 number I called from the list inside the fridge said they could only give a 10% rebate, which is ridiculous. I also used the chat and they stated the same thing. I fridge should not catch on fire which could have resulted in destruction of our home and lives. The product didn't just break down, it caught on fire late at night too! To state that they can only give a 10% rebate when the item is clearly dangerous and somehow faulty is terrible customer service and shows a lack of concern and empathy for their customers safety, well being and peace of mind and shows only greed on the companies part.
