Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20220111-C44E3-2147358049. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: GE The model # is -JGBS60DEK6WW.. Source model text: JVM3160RF5SS. Incident: GE Over the Range Microwave Model #JVM3160RF5SS tripped a circuit breaker. After resetting the circuit breaker, the unit instantly began making a vibrating/buzzing noise, even though the unit was not in the "ON" position or operating. I soon began to smell the very distinct smell of electric (burning plastic) and smoke came into the kitchen. I quickly unplugged the unit and turned off the main power to the house. The smoke and burning smell were alarming to me. An electrician came to our house to make sure the problem was not wiring. It was in fact from the microwave.
