SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20220119-A2F4D-3568804. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: LG LMHM2017ST (Microwave). Incident: The consumer indicates that he was in his living room when he saw smoking coming in from the kitchen. The consumer quickly went to the kitchen and saw the smoke was coming from the microwave. The consumer opened the microwave and fire came out; he immediately grabbed his fire extinguisher and put the fire out, which took about thirty seconds. The consumer notes that, aside from the microwave, the cabinet above it and his ceiling are damaged. The consumer states that, prior to the incident, the unit had been used six hours earlier. The consumer contacted the Manufacturer and explained the situation; a service technician was dispatched and, upon inspection, he informed the consumer that he had never seen anything like this. The service technician called his office to let them know that the consumer was not interested in a repair. The consumer states that the unit was used three to four times daily. The consumer plans on keeping his microwave for at least the next thirty days in case an investigation ensues.
