Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20220131-1678A-2147357764. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Keurig K-Supreme Plus Single Serve Coffee Maker (Keurig K-Supreme Plus Single Serve Coffee Maker). Incident: I was trying to make a cup of coffee with my Keurig K-Supreme Plus.I heard a crack sound and looked back when I saw steam rising from the unit. I unplugged it and let it cool off. I also checked to make sure that the water reservoir was properly installed. Trying it again, about 5 seconds after pressing the start button, it tripped my GFCI. I did smell a slight burning smell. I took the unit outside to cool off and tossed it away. This is the third Keurig of this model to have done this to me in the last 2 years. I contacted Keurig by email to report the issue about a month ago and am still waiting for a response. In the meantime, I bought another coffee maker of a different brand. I sincerely hope that no ones house burns down from this defective coffee maker.
