Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20220219-AAA76-2147357515. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Breville Breville Mini Smart Oven Model BOV450XL. Source model text: BMF600XL. Incident: We have owned the Breville Milk Cafe Model BMF600XL for years with no problem. We came home yesterday to a strong smell of plastic. Under the appliance was a large pool of liquid plastic. It seems the heating element failed to automatically turn off and it melted the plastic parts of the machine from the inside. This could have created a fire, thankfully it did not. Unfortunately I cleaned up the mess before I thought to photograph it.
