SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20220329-BB3C3-2147357073. Severity: No Incident, No Injury. Product: Hoover UH 30600 (Vacuum cleaner Hoover windtunnel max Bagged Maroon color). Incident: I wanted to make a report because our vacuum cleaner caught fire. It was less than two years old. Hoover Windtunnel Max Bagged. Model # UH 30600 Series XH12.0 MFG code L 20A AT My wife uses the vacuum two or three times a week to vacuum the house. We have wood floors and rugs. My wife was vacuuming the living room, it was a bare floor. She heard a pop and smelled smoke. Where the power supply cable exists the vacuum, the power supply cord was on fire . The outlet also made a pop noise. No one was injured. My wife unplugged the cable and the cord stopped burning. I've passed and certified in OSHA general contractor training. I shut off the power and inspected the outlet. There are no signs of damage or faulty outlet or wiring. I opened up the vacuum around the power supply cable. Not only was the cable burnt on the outside of the vacuum, both the white/black wire from the AC supply have burn marks, the brown/black power supply for the power button have burn marks. All four of the wires have burn marks coming out of the back of vacuum.
