Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20220508-3943D-2147356304. Severity: Injury, Level of care not known. Matched catalog product: Samsung RF263BEAESG. Incident: I was defrosting my problematic Samsung French door refrigerator with a hair dryer and received a tremendous shock when ice melted into the hair dryer. Why was I using a hair dryer to defrost my icemaker? Because it freezes up and stops making ice about once a week. The Samsung French door icemaker issues is a very common problem as discussed in multiple online community groups, and a hot hair dryer seems to be the most commonly mentioned solution. Samsung is aware of the product defect, and they are also aware of the methods people are using - including hair dryers - to unfreeze their icemakers as many people have posted it on their community pages. Samsung has refused to address the issue, and is aware of the hair dryer solution.
