Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20220711-08309-2147355077. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Kidde Smoke Alarm model P4010DCS-W and p4010DCSCO-W. Source model text: RF-SM-ACDC. Incident: Kidde wireless smoke detector RF-SM-ACDC can get set off in a lightning storm triggering all the alarms. After that it cannot be hushed or reset. Removing the battery for hours doesn't solve the issue. It goes into alarm mode the moment the battery is re-inserted. This has happened with two different RF-SM-ACDC units. No electrical power flicker or surge occurred. Multiple other Kidde hard wired smoke detectors still operate properly. First unit it happened with was in July 2020.
